Hello ! I would like to create a simple checklist for my clients. There you'll find a list of 50 items, and if you want that item, all you have to do is click a check box. Simple like that.

It would be nice to be able to revert the list if I change my mind about something.

Other things that are nice to have:

  • Option to leave a comment (e.g. "I need two of these")
  • The option to group items into categories displays all items in each category at once. For example, look at the list of animals and select the animal you want. Next, go to the list of cars and make further selections there. If you wish, you can return to the animal and change your selections before submitting.

What should I do?

@mallochtaylor
Do you want something like this?
You can use the drop-down list column type with the Allow multiple values per cell option.

Unfortunately, forms don't have a "select all" button like sheets do. 😅
You can pre-select all items as default or add an "All" button as shown below.

Another technique is to use form logic.

  1. Add helper columns such as All Animals and Top 20 Cars*.
    • (*) Maximum number of multi-select drop-down lists is 20.
  2. Add an "From All" selection to the drop-down list.
  3. Use from logic to display animals from all and cars from the top 20 fields when "from all" is selected.
  4. Add helper columns such as animal selection and car selection.
    • Determine the user's selection using an expression like this:
    • =IF(Animal@row = “from all”, [animal from all]@row, Animal@row)
    • =IF(Animal@row = “from All”, [Animal from ALL]@row, Animal@row)
